My “Check Engine” light came on, what does that mean and what do I do?
There are many reasons for the Check Engine light to come on. The system monitors the operations of dozens of sensors. They may or may not cause the car to run poorly, but all indicate that the engine is not performing as it was intended. Please contact the Service Department so we can diagnose the problem.
I filled up my car and now the “Check Engine” light is on?
You may have filled the tank with the engine running. This can cause the check engine light to come on. The light may go off in a few days, but there will be a code stored in the system. We suggest that you make arrangements to come in and have the codes cleared. If there is a problem in the future, this code may cause problems diagnosing the cause.
Why does the brake system need to be flushed every two years?
Brake fluid absorbs moisture, this moisture contaminates the system. If left in the system, these contaminates will cause premature failures. Present day brake systems contain hydraulic pumps that are built to close tolerances. Contaminates to the system will cause premature wear in such precision engineered pumps. Along with wear, the moisture in the fluid decreases the boiling point of the fluid, this can cause brake failure during heavy braking. Mercedes Benz recommends that the brake system be flushed every two years.
